ABOUT MICHELLE O’CONNOR:

Creativity has been the cornerstone of Michelle O’Connor’s life for as long as she can remember. As a hairstylist in a top Ft. Lauderdale salon; on the set of music videos, commercials, catalogs, and editorial shoots; as a salon owner; as an educator and in her newest role as Creative Director for The Salon By InStyle at JCPenney, Michelle has always trusted her creative instincts—and they have never let her down.

Her work with Mizani brought her to the attention of the Artistic Director of the JCPenney Salons, who offered her a full-time position as Artistic Regional Manager.  Always open to new opportunities, she accepted the job, and spent five years coaching and developing the 55 educators who reported directly to her; creating technical and business programs for the company’s 13,000+ stylists; and participating in education, trend and media photoshoots, and television appearances and in live celebrity and fashion show events.  During this time, her work has appeared in a wide range of publications, including Modern Salon, behindthechair, American Salon, and Launchpad; she has appeared on talk shows including Good Morning Miami and she worked at the Oscars in L.A.

Michelle has won the North American Hairstyling Award for Texture; she has been nominated for BTC #ONESHOT awards in the Color and Avant-Garde categories and she was nominated for a Bangstyle Supreme Award.   And at The Salon By InStyle at JCPenney, she is the Creative Director, where she will conceive and execute the division’s image and identity, create the company’s seasonal trends and brand marketing assets, and lead the division’s technical and career-building education.
